You will need to complete the following CE requirements in order to renew your real estate license in Nebraska.

Nebraska Active Real Estate License Renewal

You must take 18 hours of Nebraska Real Estate Commission (NREC)-approved CE courses, including six mandatory hours spent on designated subject matter (“R” courses) and other situational CE requirements:

Property Management Course

 (any course ending with “PM”)

  • Three CE hours
  • Required if you provide property management, or oversee licensees providing such services
  • To be completed once during a two-year renewal period
1000R Course
  • Required if you are a team member, leader, or designated broker overseeing teams
  • Must first be completed within 180 days of joining a team
  • To be completed once every four years

Note: CE credit will not be awarded by NREC where significant course content is repeated within four years (e.g., over the course of two consecutive renewal cycles). The “R” courses are the exception, and can be repeated in successive renewal cycles.

Regardless of whether you are an agent or a broker, you will need to complete the remaining 12 hours of CE by taking elective courses. These can be general real estate courses, or others such as:

Nebraska Inactive Real Estate License Renewal

In Nebraska, license-holders with inactive status are not required to complete their CE requirements every two years.

Keep in mind that you will not be able to engage in any real estate sales or brokerage activity with an inactive license.

Note: You will be able to renew your license for up to three years after its expiration date by submitting a real estate re-instatement application.

If more than three years pass since your license expires, you will no longer be able to renew it, and will instead be required to satisfy the exam requirements of an original applicant in order to get your Nebraska real estate license.
