You will need to complete the following CE requirements in order to renew your real estate license in Kentucky.

Kentucky Active Real Estate License Renewal

The Kentucky Real Estate Commission (KREC) requires six hours of approved CE courses per year, including:

  • Three hours on courses approved for law credit
  • The Kentucky Core Course once every four years

Regardless of whether you are an agent or a broker, you will need to complete the remaining hours of CE by taking up elective courses. These can be general real estate courses, or course such as:

Kentucky Inactive Real Estate License Renewal

In Kentucky, an inactive status is allowed indefinitely, as long as you complete your CE requirements each year.

Keep in mind that you will not be able to engage in any real estate sales or brokerage activity with an inactive license.

Note: You will be able to renew your license for up to one year after its expiration date by filing Form 208 alongside a money order of $120 in order to reinstate your license. Keep in mind that you will be required to pay additional late-penalty fees.

If more than two years pass since your license expires, you will no longer be able to renew it, and will instead be required to reapply in order to get your Kentucky Real Estate License.
